We have a Winner!!

Reading all of your comments about the things you're thankful for, touched my heart to the core.
We recognize that we have much to be grateful for and that is such a blessing! I read a quote recently that said, "It's not Happy People who are Thankful. It's Thankful People who are Happy!"
I have found this to be true in my own life, no matter how bad things are in my life it's when I'm thankful that I'm most content and most happy.

Now on to the winner of this lovely FQ Bundle!!

Mr. Random Number Generator blessed us with number...

On the Design Wall...

The Mario Quilt is coming along nicely! Only 3 blocks left to piece....

I absolutely LOVE how this adorable little quilt is coming together!!

On another note, I want to say that this thanksgiving is turning out to be especially meaningful and fulfilling for me. My sweet hubby has been looking for full time work since the first of October, when his full-time active duty orders were not renewed. Thankfully he is still in the National Guard and his once a month drill weekends are bringing in some money, but it isn't a lot. He has been blessed with several extra days of training and classes, which he was paid to attend. But even with that I thought we were to the point of having to decide which bills we could be delayed and which bills had to be without delay.  I logged into our checking account to check the balance and by the Grace of God was blessed to discover a deposit I didn't know about and more than enough money to pay all the bills.
All the praise goes to the Lord, provider of all our needs!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!
Blessings,
Marcia

Weekend of Progress {Super Mario Quilt}

After a much too long, but necessary break from the Super Mario Brothers Quilt I've made some good progress this weekend.  I'm participating in the "Super Mario Brother's Quilt Along" on the Cut to Pieces Blog. Angela has a great pattern and her directions are fairly simple. The only change I made was leaving out the sticky stabilizers. I just laid the pieces out and carefully pieced them together in individual strips. It probably takes a bit longer, but I like how it comes out better.

Last time I checked in on this project the Mario and Luigi blocks were finished and the Red Mushroom block was laid out and ready for some machine time. My sweet hubby was away doing his National Guard thing this weekend, leaving me free to spend as much time in my happy place {aka my sewing studio} as I wanted.  And I enjoyed every minute of it!!

The blocks I finished this weekend were:

Red Mushroom - Finished

Star waiting to be pieced

Finished Star

The Cloud that Follows Mario everywhere about to be pieced

Four  finished only 8 more to go!!

Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share my joy of sewing/quilting with you!
Blessings & Hugs

New Website

Hop on over to the shop and check out all the new items, featured products and this weeks special sale items.

Quilt Market & Hurricane Sandy

Quilt Market was last week and I a great time, but didn't take nearly as many pictures as I had planned to take. Not at all sure how that happened.

Our first day was a day filled with what they call School House. They offer a variety of workshops varying from business knowledge, to new products & fabric collection reveals. I find the fabric collection reveals to be the most fun!

One of the designers I went to see was Thomas Knauer with Andover Fabrics. I love his modern designs and colors!

Thomas Knauer - Fabric Designer

Angela Walters is one of my favorite long-arm quilters and she has a new book, In the Studio with Angela Walters, it's brimming with tips and techniques for quilters as well as some beautiful quilts!!

Then I discovered a new designer (well new to me anyway) Stephanie Prescott. She has this new collection of Batiks coming out called Macchiato which is absolutely beautiful.  I've ordered some of the pieces from this collection and wish so much that I could afford to order the entire collection!! The colors are so rich and luscious!

My last workshop of the day was with Tula Pink who was revealing her new fabric collection, Salt Water.  I found myself again wishing that I could order afford to carry the entire collection in all three colorways. I love it all!!  I did order the entire blue colorway, some charm packs with the entire collection as well as a kit of pre-cut hexies for the hexagon quilt, "Hex on the Beach."

The first day of Market was a  mixed day for me,  I had a great time seeing all the new fabrics and gadgets and placing orders, but I was a bit bummed that due to my limited budget  I was finished placing my orders by noon. I spent the rest of the afternoon admiring all the fabric I couldn't afford to order. Mystique by Lila Tueller is one of those collections that I'm in the midst of trying to find the funds to order before it's out of print. It's so striking and versatile and simply gorgeous!

LOVE this dress!!  Made using one of the main prints in the Mystique collection

Even though I was a bit bummed about running out of funds so quickly it turned out to be a blessing in the end. With Hurricane Sandy marching toward the East Coast they were busy cancelling flights and mine was on the chopping block (and that was after already moving my original flight up to a day). I was able to get a flight for Sunday morning and made it into Dulles on one of the last flights of the day before they closed down the airport. All in all it turned out to be a great trip and I came home inspired and excited to get back to work!

Hugs!
Marcia
